Analysis & aesthetic description
The Caballo Marino of Chiloé mythology is an aquatic creature that bears a certain resemblance to the hippocampus of Greek mythology. It is described with a long snout, fin-like limbs, and a propelling tail, similar to that of a fish.
This work is born from the imaginary encounter between these two creatures. Two distant cultures, separated by the sea, that found in it a territory in which to dream beings where horse and marine creature could become one.
Through driftwood, the sea, time, and imagination intertwine to give form to a new creature: a bridge between mythologies, territories, and ways of seeing the world.
The sea does not only transport matter; it also connects imaginaries.
